Getting Around
The Ginninderry team designed your community from the ground up, making it a priority that your neighbourhood and traffic infrastructure is easily walkable and cyclist-friendly in order to promote active travel.
Active travel is any mode of travel that involves physical activity. It is an effective way to incorporate exercise into your daily life, it is better for the environment, better for you, and safer for everyone!
In a first for new suburbs in the ACT, the major arterial road which runs through your suburb has dedicated off-road commuter paths.
On each side of the road there is a one-way bike path, physically separated from the road by a colonnade of street trees. There is also a standard shared footpath for pedestrians, which is separate from this commuter path, further in from the street. This allows a true separation of high and low speed environments – making it safer for cyclists and pedestrians.
Electric cars are quieter than the average car. Train your children to look twice and not just rely on their ears when crossing the road!
There are bike shares around Canberra, including our very own electric bikes at The Link. If you’d like to learn how to access these contact our office on 1800 316 900.
